The Storytelling Festival of Carolina is a three-day spectacular with a variety of entertaining events. Start your inspiring weekend on Thursday afternoon at the John Blue House and Grounds, a Victorian style home built in the 1890's by inventor and businessman, John Blue.

The festival kicks off on Thursday night at 7:30 at The Storytelling & Arts Center of the Southeast, 131 S. Main St. in Laurinburg where you will have an opportunity to preview all of our featured tellers in an olio program. Tickets for this program are $5.00 for all. All tickets must be reserved in advance. It is unlikely that tickets will be available at the door.

On Friday morning your adventure at the storytelling festival continues. You will enjoy two days of professional storytellers who will make you laugh and sing and who will bring tears to your eyes as they tell tales of all kinds. The first one-hour storytelling session each day begins at 9:30 am and sessions continue all day until 5:00 pm with a half-hour break between sessions except for the lunch break which will be from noon to 1:00pm, And if you want to try your hand at spinning a yarn, you may sign up to tell your story at our "Sharing Place" which is open during all breaks.

The 2013 festival will feature nationally renowned storytellers and published authors -- the tall tales of Bil Lepp and homespun humor of Willie Claflin, the storytelling and songs of Rev. Robert B. Jones along with another popular teller to be announced later, and great regional tellers. In addition there will be the winners of our regional youth competition. You will not find better storytellers anywhere than those who appear at The Storytelling Festival of Carolina each year, because there simply aren't any.

The festival will have food vendors (and we strive to provide you with a healthy bill of fare) as well as vendors offering crafts and storytelling resource items.

And don't miss the music and storytelling Gala at the Storytelling & Arts Center from 7:30 to 10:30 on Friday Night.

Check this site frequently as we will be updating all of the links to bring you up-to-date information for our 2013 Storytelling Festival of Carolina.
