The Storytelling Festival of Carolina is a two-day spectacular with a variety of entertaining
events. Start your inspiring weekend
on Friday afternoon at the John Blue House and Grounds, a Victorian style home built in the 1890's by inventor, farmer and
businessman, John Blue. Tour guides will show you through the home and relate tales told by generations of John Blue's family.
The grounds showcase cabins, a cotton gin and compress and a general store from across the county that were built in the mid
1800's. Across the street is the Museum of Scotland County featuring vintage automobiles, farm equipment, model trains and other
items representative of the county's history. Not far from the John Blue House is Scotland Yard, a wonderful play area for children
of all ages. We also have a "Children's Place" on our festival grounds where energetic young ones can burn some energy playing
old timey games. Register early on line and take advantage of our discounted "early bird" pricing. There are also discount prices for children, seniors
and military personnel. On Friday night at The Storytelling Arts Center of the Southeast, 131 S. Main St. In Laurinburg, you will have an opportunity to preview all of our featured and regional tellers in an olio program. This program is free to all weekend ticket holders. For all others, tickets will be available at the door. Click our FAQ link for more information. On Saturday morning your adventure at the Storytelling Festival of Carolina continues. You will enjoy a weekend of professional storytellers who will make you laugh and sing and who will bring tears to your eyes as they tell tales of all kinds. The 2008 festival will feature 4 nationally renowned storytellers and published authors. In addition, there will be regional tellers and winners of our regional youth teller competition.
